I chose to record this song specifically because it's so easy to feel that we aren't seen
or important because we aren't flashy and sparkly!
But .. you're wrong .. and I hope this speaks to your heart!
This page and this music track is dedicated to the unsung heroes of life - caregivers! They are hidden behind the disease
or condition, hidden behind the person who has that disease or condition and buried under emotional/physical and financial
landslides. I say thank you on behalf of those who want to speak but are no longer able to. I give each of you a standing
ovation and I sing the song you can hear on this page to you and for you.
Like so many people, I've dealt with an elderly parent with significant problems. My older sister, Linda, stepped in and moved
Mommie from the nursing home into her home. This was no easy job. In addition to all the other health issues she had, my mother
also suffered with Alzheimers .. and suffer she did.
As she declined in overall health and became more and more lost in that horrific disease, Linda, and her husband, Michael,
made the descent with her. How they did it year after year with only a few home health aides to assist is completely beyond
me. As much as I loved her, I honestly don't know that I could have done it.
I have entered the studio with three of Austin's finest musicians (Rick McRae & Terry Hale of George Strait's Ace in the Hole
Band and Ernie Durawa of the Texas Tornados) and recorded a single dedicated to ALL caregivers universally but with special
thanks to my sister and brother-in-law.
Proceeds from the sale of this single will be donated, in my mother's name, to national organizations dedicated to supporting
caregivers.
